Unix Support ~ HP9000 Startup and Shutdown

Starting the HP9000

turn HP console on

turn HP power switch on the 9000 to on

watch HP console for any error messages

Stopping the HP9000

have all users log off the system

using the HP console login to root

type shutdown -h

the system (after a 60 second pause) will start to shutdown the various Unix processes that are running

a message will display on the screen when you can safely switch the power off on the HP 9000

as always, pay attention to any error messages that may appear. If you are unsure then it is always safer to ask.
